Rinca Island, Indonesia

Of course, we had to see the Komodo dragons. On Rinca, we hired a guide and walked through the reserve. We saw many of these giant lizards. They are all ugly and have a rather comic gait, almost a waddle, but they are known to be able to move very fast when they want to. They can reach 12 feet in length and weight 300 pounds. They have a long skinny tongue which is forked at the end like a snake that they use to smell their way around. We also saw a monkey colony, some bush turkeys, and many water buffalo with heart shaped horns.
