Gulf harbour
Well, what can we say about Gulf Harbour. It was to become
our home for 2 months and also our work place. We slaved for
an eternity on Firebird and in the end we pushed off. It was
nice to be central enough to the markets and so on but also
far enough away from the city life. When we had the chance we
would hook up with Rob and Sharon and visit Te Harue Bay for
a swim or a sundowner.
Firebird received a full makeover with Jim and Dylan painting
her topside after Tessa and Dylan had fully sanded the young
bird. Later we hauled out and gave her undersides a good scrubbing
and a few coats of bottom paint with the help from David (Dylan's
Dad), Tessa and the rest of us.
We had fun brewing our first keg of beer on board when Jim
and Vicki returned from their holiday down South and the cool
weather allowed us to store the pale ale in the salon on tap,
ready and waiting! We sure enjoyed those beers after a long
day of work.
